Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Nebraska) released a scathing statement Wednesday after President Donald Trump issued 26 more presidential pardons to his close political allies.

Trump’s pardons included former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former adviser Roger Stone, and exonerating them of all convictions stemming from Special Counsel Robert E. Mueller Russia probe.

Trump also issued a pardon for Charles Kushner, a billionaire real estate developer and the father of Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

“This is rotten to the core,” the statement read.

Sasse said that Trump had pardoned “another tranche of felons,” pointing the finger at Manafort and Stone, both of whom the statement said, “flagrantly and repeatedly violated the law and harmed Americans.”
