Nintendo Previews 2021: Metroid Prime 4, Super Mario 3D World and more

Nintendo gamers have a lot to look forward to in 2021, with beloved classics returning and thrilling sequels on the way.

Here is just a selection of what Switch users should be getting excited about next year.

'Pokemon'

There isn't too much information out there just yet, but the Pokemon Company has promised something "very special" to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary celebrations.

With plenty of rumours including 'Diamond' and 'Pearl' remakes, 'Pokemon Snap' and 'Detective Pikachu 2', there is a lot to get Switch gamers giddy in 2021.

'Hitman 3'

The 'World of Assassination' trilogy comes to an end next year with the release of 'Hitman 3', and thanks to cloud streaming, Switch owners will get to join in the fun.

The upcoming stealth game - which launches in January - is one to look out for, as developer IO Interactive has promised something "a lot more mature, serious and darker" than the two previous games.

'The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2'

Just the fact that 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' is getting a sequel is exciting enough, and the news was a shock for fans when it was announced at E3 2019.

Naturally, Nintendo is keeping the title and other details under wraps, but it's one of the most anticipated exclusives coming to the console.

'Metroid Prime 4'

Another Nintendo Switch exclusive, 'Metroid Prime 4' has been in development for a long time, but it sounds like it should be worth the wait.

The last update came in January 2019, with Retro Studios - who were behind the original trilogy - taking control of the project, and that can only bode well for the title.

'Super Mario 3D World'

Originally released on the Wii U, 'Super Mario 3D World' is finally dropping on the Switch in February 2021.

With a movement speed boost and a mysterious 'Bowser's Fury' bonus chapter to boost, the port will also have Amiibo support and online co-op multiplayer.
