Lonely in lockdown? Here are three online games to combat loneliness during the coronavirus pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic means some people can’t see many of their family and friends: so here are the top three games you can play with other people online to stop you feeling as lonely in lockdown.

‘Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ was launched in March of this year and proved to be a hit. As well as tending to your island and talking to your villagers, players can also visit other people’s islands: so you can visit your friends virtually if you can’t see them in person.

For people that prefer to play board games, ‘Ludo King’ is a video game version of the classic board game Ludo: players can choose to either on their own against a computer, with strangers online, or they can have a private game with friends online or offline.

Meanwhile, another option is ‘Among Us’: the game was first released in 2018 but soared in popularity this year during the coronavirus pandemic. Gamers play as crewmates who have to complete tasks in order to keep your vessel together, but they also have to figure out which player is the impostor who is trying to sabotage them. Gamers can play with friends or strangers online.
