Apple patent for wireless charging

Apple could be developing a MacBook that wirelessly charges other devices.

The tech giant has reportedly been granted a patent for two-way charging, which would be a big boost for users with an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch.

As revealed in images filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office - originally reported by Patently Apple - there would be several charging coils under the frame of the laptop which would allow multiple devices to be charged at once.

Also included in the patents - which is no guarantee of them becoming reality - is an image of an iPad charging an iPhone and Apple Watch.

The company also detailed the potential plans and noted how wireless charging could be useful when people can't - or simply don't want to - grab separate power supplies for their devices.

Of course, Samsung already allows users to wirelessly charge devices off the back of some Galaxy phones using the wireless Qi standard.
