Fortnite: FNCS Invitational Champion Furious Joins XTRA Gaming

Fortnite Champion Furious joins a rising esports team.

XTRA Gaming is an underrated esports organization in competitive Fortnite. They’ve built a foundation of homegrown talent beginning in April of 2020. Team owner ‘Sly’ and many others behind the scenes targeted top NA West players to bring on board before venturing to NA East. Recently, XTRA has developed an apparent affinity for controller players, adding NA West standout Reet, FNCS Champion Mero and rising star illest. Today, the North America-based organization added another top controller player; Furious is the newest member of XTRA Gaming.

The Westcoast gaming brand welcomed Furious to the team with an announcement video, including a compilation of his best plays. It was only a matter of time before an organization signed the top controller player on the market. His unexpected win in the FNCS Invitational Finals put him on the NA East region’s radar. Furious executed a near-perfect strategy in the finals, collected $100K USD and instantly became a recognizable name in the scene. He drew the attention of fellow top NA East competitors Clix, Riversan, Illest and Bizzle, all of whom he teamed with at some point in the ensuing three seasons.

Furious continued to play consistently well for the remainder of 2020. His year included multiple high Cash Cup placements and winning the NA East DreamHack Open in October. Furious joins Reet, Mero, and Illest, making XTRA arguably the most impressive controller roster in competitive Fortnite. With another Fortnite Champion Series event set to begin in early-February, he’ll look to improve upon his 26th place finish from Chapter 2 - Season 4.

What’s Next for XTRA Gaming?

The people at XTRA have seemingly outlined their plan to sign every controller player on the market. Scoped comes to mind as an established competitor with an impressive track record who remains unsigned in the Fortnite scene. Former Ghost Gaming player Assault also fits the bill of what XTRA has been on the lookout for over the last several months. It will be interesting to watch as the Fortnite brand continues to expand in 2021.
