Kate Winslet 'felt good' stripping on screen

Kate Winslet felt "quite good" stripping off on screen in her 40s.

The 45-year-old actress plays 19th-century British paleontologist Mary Anning, who has an affair with Saoirse Ronan's character, Charlotte Murchison, in new movie 'Amonite' and both stars were keen to show off the "passion" between the pair.

While Kate thought she'd be worried about being nude on screen now she's older, she was "surprised" at how at ease she was.

She told the Daily Mail newspaper's Baz Bamigboye: "It was very clear to me that they were quite capable of passionate moments — and Saoirse and I both wanted to embody that. And for me, at the age I am now, that felt quite good, actually!

"I remember saying: 'Here I am, doing nudity at 43 (the age I was then). How is this possible?!' I swear, I thought I was going to hang up my hat when it came to nudity on screen.

"But I was surprised at how I felt. I felt quite good about it, really. I've got all my marks, and scars, and I'm older. It's a different body than the one I had 20 years ago."

Meanwhile, the 'Titanic' star's daughter, Mia Threapleton - who she has with first husband Jim Threapleton - has made her acting debut in 'Shadows', and though Kate hasn't seen the film yet, she was happy about her following in her footsteps.

She said: "The opposite. I said, 'OK, you go for it, kiddo!"

And Kate - who also has Joe, 17, with second husband Sam Mendes and Bear, seven, with husband Ned Rocknroll - thinks Mia was helped by the fact she has her father's surname, not her mother's.

She added: "The greatest thing for Mia is that she has that different surname. So, believe you me, she slipped right under the radar. They had no idea who her mummy was."
