Tech companies 'eye more gaming studios'

Some of the world's biggest tech companies are stepping up efforts to acquire big-name gaming studios, according to an industry expert.

Brad Sams has claimed via a YouTube video that the likes of Microsoft, Amazon and Google are all eager to buy more video game studios.

He said: "I’ve been hearing a lot of conversations behind closed doors about acquisitions in the industry. There’s a lot of moving things going on right now.

"It’s hard to say which companies are going to get snatched up and by what vendors … I can tell you there are some big industry names out there being approached by Microsoft included, but then you also have Amazon, and you also have Google…"

Earlier this month, meanwhile, EA confirmed that its collaboration with Lucasfilm Games "will continue for years to come".

The company said it was proud of its long-standing collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

EA added: "Our talented teams have created some of the most successful games in the history of the 'Star Wars' franchise, including 'Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order', 'Star Wars: Battlefront' and 'Battlefront II', 'Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes' and 'Star Wars: Squadrons'.

"We love 'Star Wars', and we look forward to creating more exciting experiences for players to enjoy."
