Team Liquid slaughtered FlyQuest and claimed its rightful spot in the 2021 LCS Lock In semifinals.
Team Liquid is not playing around in the LCS Lock In event. The team secured two clean victories over FlyQuest and came out victorious in the quarterfinals series. Despite having two new members on its roster, who just recently joined the team in California, Liquid is looking better than ever.
FlyQuest didn’t stand a chance against the proactive, aggressive Team Liquid. In game one, FlyQuest had the better draft and had everything it needed to take over but Liquid didn’t give its opponent the chance to scale. Instead, Liquid applied pressure in every lane and lit too many fires for FlyQuest to put out. FlyQuest couldn't recover despite having a lineup that out-scaled Liquid, which cost them the opening game.
In the second game of the series, the teams started with equally good compositions. This time around, FlyQuest didn’t wait for the item power spikes and decided to go for some aggressive plays of its own. Liquid was more than ready to respond and soon enough, FlyQuest had to adopt a defensive stance to try and rebound. The relentless Team Liquid closed the second game before the 30-minute mark and with that victory, a spot in the semifinals.
Team Liquid will face Evil Geniuses in the next round. Evil Geniuses took down Golden Guardians earlier in the day with another outstanding performance. Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid, alongside 100 Thieves, are looking like strong contenders to take the title on January 31.
Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses will meet on January 30 at 4 p.m. ET.
Who is competing in the LCS?
There are 10 professional teams currently competing in the LCS. Each team owns a franchise slot, partnering directly with League of Legends developer Riot Games. These franchise slots are permanent, so participating teams can never be demoted from the league. The 10 teams are as follows:
