Pokemon Go launching a Team Rocket celebration event

‘Pokemon Go’ is launching a Team Rocket celebration event on February 2.

The augmented reality mobile game will pay tribute to the infamous villains – who have been a mainstay in the original games in the ‘Pokemon’ franchise, as well as in the manga and the television series – with a special event, which will run for a week from February 2 until February 7.

The event, titled Team Go Rocket Celebration, will allow players to complete special Team Go Rocket-themed research tasks, as well as introducing special Shadow Pokemon which will be available in the wild to catch.

During the event, Pokemon including Golbat, Koffing, Ariados, Qwilfish, Sneasel, Houndour, Nuzleaf, Stunky, Skorupi, and Venipede will be appearing more frequently in the wild.

In addition, Qwilfish, Larvitar, Corphish, Absol, Skorupi, Sandile, Scraggy, Pawniard, and Deino will be hatching from the recently added Team Rocket Go eggs.

Pokemon hatched from eggs will incubate in half the usual time, and will be available even after the event ends.

The Pokemon selected for the event are all classic options for the villainous team throughout the generations of the mainline Pokemon video games.

Elsewhere, the event will also allow players to face off against Team Go Rocket grunts who will have new teams of Shadow Pokemon.

Some new monsters will also be available in Shadow form for the first time, including Swinub, Nosepass, Aron, Spheal, Lileep, and Anorith, and players will also receive a new Team Go Rocket gift sticker for defeating one of the team leaders during the event.
