On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Oklahoma City Thunder by a score of 114-113. For the first time in his NBA career, superstar LeBron James went into overtime in three consecutive games and led his team to victory. These three games also account for three of the six straight games that the Lakers have won. Not only that, the Lakers are still undefeated at their home arena, Staples Center.
Throughout the game, LeBron led the way for the Lakers. He scored a total of 25 points, with seven assists and six rebounds. Besides LeBron’s 25 points, Montrezi Harrell had 20 points off the Lakers bench, and Dennis Schroder had a total of 19 points.
Over the course of the season, the Lakers have shot three-pointers much better than they did during last year’s championship series. However, they have also been barely winning the games where they don’t shoot as much, such as Wednesday’s victory which has a score difference of just one point. Victories like Wednesday’s will end up going down as helping James and his MVP case this season.
Despite this win, Los Angeles is half a game back behind the Utah Jazz for the best record in the league. They are 20-6 on the season so far. The Lakers are scheduled to play their next game on Friday night against the Grizzlies, who are coming off a victory as they beat the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday by a score of 130-114.
