Fortnite: Nickmercs & SypherPK To Compete In FNCS With Former Champion Coop

Nickmercs and SypherPK have found a third for FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5.

The entire Fortnite Battle Royale fandom exploded with excitement when ‘OG’ player Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff returned to the once-beloved game after a long hiatus. After Season X, Nickmercs fell out of touch with Fortnite and slowly lost interest in only playing the game that helped vault him into the limelight. He switched to Call of Duty: Warzone, where his name and Twitch stream skyrocketed further. Many wondered if he’d ever come back to Fortnite, given his success in a new Battle Royale title. The MFAM leader slowly began warming up to the idea before deciding to return.

Nickmercs’ “Brief” Return to Fortnite

Three months ago, Nickmercs began playing Fortnite on stream with a combination of friends Dennis “Cloakzy” Lepore, Tim “timthetatman” Betar and many others. He spent most of his time alongside long-time friend and fellow Fortnite OG Ali “SypherPK” Hassan. The streams continued regularly, but Nickmercs suddenly stopped steaming Fortnite, leading many to believe that he fell out of touch once again. That was not the case, however.

Streamer Bowl II and Return to Competitive Fortnite

Nickmercs did steadily play Fortnite until late-December of 2020 on stream. He and SypherPK competed in one of the many DreamHack Online tournaments with encouraging results. The Twitch superstar then stopped streaming Fortnite until the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl II competition, where he participated with an NFL player and a community member for charity. It seemed that Nickmercs’ Warzone and workout streams took precedent over Fortnite. That was until he and SypherPK announced their intentions to compete in the upcoming Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) and that the two were in search of a third teammate for the competition.

Nickmercs has been grinding Fortnite offline for quite some time in preparation for his FNCS return. Mere days before the competition, he and SypherPK settled on a teammate for the trios competition; FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 3 Champion and G2 Esports player Coop. Nickmercs, SypherPK and Coop will look to overcome some of North America’s best teams. It’s a tall order for the three, but stranger things have happened in Fortnite Battle Royale. The game has evolved so much competitively since its release in 2017.

No matter how you slice it, Nickmercs and SypherPK back together once again is incredible for Fortnite. Add in Coop, and you have one of many exciting storylines ahead of FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5. Can two veterans and a two-time Fortnite Champion do the unthinkable? You’ll have to tune in this weekend to find out.
