Minnesota Timberwolves’ D’Angelo Russell To Miss 4-6 Weeks

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - MARCH 03: D'Angelo Russell #0 of the Minnesota Timberwolves shoots against the New Orleans Pelicans during the second half at the Smoothie King Center on March 03, 2020 in New Orleans, Louisiana. NOTE TO USER: User...

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be without D’Angelo Russell, who will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday.

Russell will undergo the surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee. The guard is expected to miss four to six weeks as a result. Russell has missed the team’s previous three games with what the Timberwolves said was a sore left leg. The guard was averaging 19 points, five assists in 20 games so far in the season before being sidelined.

Last season, the guard was traded from the Golden State Warriors to Minnesota. Minnesota was looking for a point guard to pair with their star Karl Anthony-Towns. So the team traded for Russell with the high hopes that the All-Stars will form a dynamic duo. Last season, the two played one game together and this season, only four games. In total, they played five games together, and in those five games, the team has won twice and lost three times.
