Japan's core consumer prices down 0.6% on year in Jan.

Japan's core consumer prices dropped 0.6 percent in January from a year earlier, government data showed Friday.

Nationwide core consumer prices, excluding volatile fresh food items, marked the sixth straight month of decline, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Core CPI fell 1.0 percent in December, the sharpest drop in over 10 years.
