The year 2021 in competitive Fortnite Battle Royale is off to a hot start. Teams and players across the game's seven competitive regions continue battling it out for cash prizes and to become one of the best. Since the year began, Epic Games solidified trios as the primary format in the competitive scene, meaning we'll finally see some continuity from one season to the next. It's an exciting time to be a fan, but even more exciting for the game's top players as they look to stay consistent and relevant.
All seven regions feature some truly remarkable talents. However, the general focus remains on NA East and Europe because of their robust player bases and prize pools. Tai "TaySon" Starčič had arguably the best year of any competitive Fortnite player in 2020, winning two Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) events and managing multiple high finishes elsewhere. He earned ESTNN's Best Player of 2020 title for those reasons, and he's off to a strong start in 2021. In just two months, TaySon's placed 7th in a DreamHack Open event, 4th in an NA East Cash Cup and has improved immensely with new trio teammates Martin "MrSavage" Foss Andersen and Miran "IDrop" Tavakolzadeh. Now that he is a part of Guild Esports, TaySon is looking to continue his dominance in competitive Fortnite.

Deyy

NA East controller standout Deyy has officially broken into the upper-echelon of the region. He's already collected the Axe of Champions in FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 4 alongside trio teammates Mero and Reverse2k. That's a marquee accomplishment that only a few players have claimed in Fortnite history. Deyy can also hang his hat on a DreamHack Online Open victory, which he earned with duo partner Clix, and a Solo Cash Cup win to boot. Deyy has quickly leapfrogged many of NA East's best players, and his trio already punched their ticket to the FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5 Semi-Finals.

2021 was a banner year for rising talents in the European Fortnite scene; one of many players who broke through was Swiss player Noahreyli. Despite missing FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 4 Finals, Noah compiled quite a resume over the last few months in particular. He's managed multiple top-ten Cash Cup finishes in both the trio and solo formats, including four wins with Vadeal and Rezon ay. It's impossible to ignore Noahreyli's DreamHack Open victory and runner-up finish alongside Vadeal. The Swiss player is one of a few favorites to win this season's FNCS and continue a run of consistency throughout this year.

Speaking of Vadeal, he's another rising star worth mentioning on this list. Since September, the German phenom has amassed a string of results that others could only hope to replicate. Vadeal reached four DreamHack Open Finals, producing a 58th, 1st, 8th and 2nd. Additionally, his trio tournament efforts alongside Noahreyli and Rezon ay have been nothing short of remarkable. We are experiencing a surge of young players, and Vadeal sits firmly atop the list.

Renowned and revered sniper Thomas "Th0masHD" Høxbro Davidsen ascended the European competitive Fortnite region's rankings in 2020. The Dane enjoyed success as part of arguably Europe's most consistent trio, including fellow EU standouts Anas "Anas" El-Abd and Nikolaj "Flikk" Andreas Frøslev. These three joined together in Chapter 2 - Season 3 and managed multiple Trio Cash Cup wins and a 3rd place FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 4 result. Th0masHD has performed exceptionally in duo competitions with TaySon, where the two have achieved two recent DreamHack Open top-ten finishes. With Gamma Gaming behind him, Th0masHD is looking forward to a successful 2021.

Guild Esports player Henrik "Hen" Mclean didn't earn the nickname "King" without reason. The start to 2021 has been outstanding, to say the least for the England-native. Hen's managed to find himself in the least-second trio, including Moussa "chapix" Faour and FNCS Invitational winner JannisZ. This team meshed well, achieving an 8th and 2nd place finish in their first two Trio Cash Cup tournaments before winning FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5 Qualifier 1. To boot, Hen won an NA East Solo Cash Cup by a sizable margin; it's going to be a good year for Hen.
Clix

Cody "Clix" Conrod of NRG Esports has been a top player and relevant name in Fortnite since the World Cup days in 2019. Despite his success, Clix struggled to break through with a marquee victory in the NA East scene. More recently, Clix has been producing results that most of his fans and fellow competitors expect to see. In the last month, Clix and his trio teammates Bugha and Bizzle won the first NA East FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5 Qualifier without much resistance. Additionally, the young Fortnite star and duo partner Deyy claimed first in the NA East DreamHack Open tournament last month. Clix seems to be hitting his peak at the right time.
Bugha

Contrary to what some may believe, the 2019 Fortnite World Cup Champion — Kyle "Bugha" Giersdorf — remains one of the game's best players. Although he has yet to defend his title in a LAN atmosphere properly, Bugha continues to accumulate high finishes under challenging competitions. In last season's FNCS, Bugha, Avery and Jamper took third place. Since then, he's joined new teammates Bizzle and Clix for more success in trios. This dynamic combination just won the first FNCS Chapter 2 - Season 5 Qualifier. The train keeps rolling for Bugha, who is comfortable in every format.
