Call of Duty League Super Week Recap

Yesterday, the Call of Duty League Super Week wrapped up seven days of non-stop action across 20 unique matches. Each CDL match took place online and had serious implications for each of the 12 Call of Duty esports team’s 2021 seeding in the Major 1 tournament taking place next week.

Monday, February 22

The Florida Mutineers kicked off CDL Super Week with a commanding victory over the Los Angeles Guerrillas. Similarly, Atlanta’s Faze made quick work over Toronto Ultra in another 3-1 series.

Tuesday, February 23

Tuesday was full of clean sweeps as the Paris Legion, New York Subliners and Minnesota Rokkr all saw perfect performances and went flawless in their respective match-ups.

  • New York Subliners 3 – 0 London Royal Ravens
  • Minnesota Rokkr 3 – 0 Seattle Surge

Wednesday, February 24

Wednesday marked the first day of Super Week where Call of Duty esports matches were decided by a Game 5. Dallas Empire edged out the London Royal Ravens in a close 3-2 series and Los Angeles Thieves did the same against the Seattle Surge. Meanwhile, OpTic Chicago had a lights-out performance against the struggling Toronto Ultra.

Thursday, February 25

Thursday included more lopsided matchups as OpTic Chicago, Atlanta FaZe and the New York Subliners all won their matchups without ever going to a fifth game. The New York Subliners were flawless, while Optic Chicago and Atlanta FaZe both dropped a single map in their respective series.

Friday, February 26

Friday showcased three great Call of Duty League matches, including the highly anticipated Dallas Empire vs New York Subliners. The match saw New York Subliners’s James “Clayster” Eubanks facing off against his old teammates and reining 2020 CDL Champions, the Dallas Empire. While Dallas pulled off a victory in a close fifth game, Clayster’s individual performance outshined his ex-teammates, including longtime veteran, Ian “Crimsix” Porter.

Saturday, February 27

Saturday saw two series go to Game 5, including the Atlanta FaZe’s win over the formidable Paris Legion. The Los Angeles Guerillas then dominated Toronto Ultra who still looked for their first win of the week. Minnesota Rokkr also picked up their second win over the week against the winless London Royal Ravens.

Sunday, February 28

Finally, on Sunday, Dallas Empire swept the Los Angeles Thieves in a highly anticipated esports series and secured the top seed for the upcoming Major 1 Call of Duty League tournament.

OpTic Chicago and the New York Subliners both also had dominating performances and secured their spots in the winners bracket of the 2021 CDL Major 1.

After many matches in Call of Duty League Super Week, the bracket for the CDL Major 1 tournament is officially set. It kicks off on Wednesday, March 3, at 1 PM CT and culminates with the finals on Sunday, March 7.
