Here are some of the most interesting things that happened in the Tiebreakers.
After several weeks of high-quality Dota 2 action, it’s time to slowly but steadily prepare ourselves for the upcoming Major. Before we do that, we have to check the Tierbrakers, which will have an impact on the teams that will advance to the first big event of the year.
It’s important to note that each event from the Tiebreakers is played in Bo1 format. In other words, teams have only one shot at winning.
Team Liquid vs OG

The first series of the day features the two-time TI winners and Team Liquid. Both teams were expected to perform much better, but they were unable to shine due to Team Secret’s dominance.
Before the match started, people thought that OG would easily rip through its opponents, especially after they showed they have what it takes to bring down Team Secret. However, Johan "N0tail" Sundstein and his teammates were unable to live up to the expectations.
The game lasted for 35 minutes, during which Team Liquid had the lead. Both teams decided to pick the meta heroes right now, but it seems like TL’s draft was more suitable for team-fights. Despite having to deal with the IO-Weave combo, Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi and his teammates managed to succeed.
The same happened in the second cycle, but this time, it was even easier for Team Liquid. The European powerhouse needed just 22 minutes to secure their victory, following their impressive team-fight-based draft.
OG tried to focus on the late-game, but they couldn’t handle TL’s pressure.
OG vs Tundra
After losing their match against TL, OG had a chance to redeem themselves, but this time, they had to face Tundra Esports. Although it wasn’t easy, the two-time TI winners succeeded with their IO+Weaver combo.
Tundra tried to get as much power for the mid-game as possible by picking Ursa. Sadly, the hero was unable to do much because OG had two of the most elusive core heroes in Dota 2 - Weaver and Ember Spirit.
After their victory, OG tried to pick a strong draft for the second game. As a result, they picked Invoker and Monkey King. At first sight, those two heroes don’t work that well together, but this isn’t the case. Once they get a few items, they become an unstoppable force to deal with.
Despite having Troll Warlord in its draft, Tundra Esports was unable to deal with their opponents’ pressure. That’s why they lost in just 29 minutes.
Tundra vs Team Liquid

The final series of the day in Europe was between the ex-mudgolem’s roster and Team Liquid. Following their success against OG, Max "qojqva" Bröcker and his teammates tried to continue their dominant performance. Sadly, the first game did not go in their favor.
Thanks to Wraith King and Mars, Tundra Esports managed to control the first game of the series. The laning stage was a bit hard, but after WK got a few items, he was able to rip through TL’s lineup. Although they had Enigma in their roster, the hero was unable to land the big ultimate.
Although it wasn’t easy, Team Liquid won the second game between these two. This time, their legendary mid-laner decided to pick Storm Spirit, which is a hero that Tundra didn’t have an answer to.
Although they tried to fight back with a Death Prophet and Kunkka, the two heroes were unable to deal enough damage. As a result, Team Liquid was able to win most team fights and the series.
Lower Division
We got to see three interesting games in the lower division. The first one was between Brame and Creepwave, and as expected, Brame managed to succeed. Of course, it wasn’t easy because Kharis "SkyLark" Zafeiriou and his teammates needed nearly 50 minutes to beat their opponents.
The second series was between HellBear Smashers and Ceepwave, and sadly, it didn’t end well for Remco "Crystallis" Arets and his teammates. Although they had their chances, HB Shmashers had a very solid draft based on Enigma. This hero is famous for his insane ultimate, and Rasmus "MISERY" Filipsen and his colleagues utilized it to its full potential. That’s why they needed just 28 minutes to secure the victory.
Last but not least, we got to see was between HellBear Smashers and Brame. The latter became of the biggest surprises of the DPC after dominating most of the teams they had to go up against. Sadly, they failed to do that in their final series against HB Shmashers. After nearly one hour of epic Dota 2 action, Juggernaut and Puck managed to win several team-fights.
In the end, Geogrii "Gilgir" Svistunov and his teammates succeeded and managed to win, which guarantees them a spot in the Upper Division next season.
