In a straw poll among the attendants of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Sunday, former President Donald Trump won 55% of a hypothetical vote for the 2024 Republican primary.

Other contenders like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) won 21% of the vote and 4% sided with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R).

Almost 70% of people polled at CPAC Sunday said they would like to see Trump run for president again in 2024; 15% said they would not.

“So again you see how important to everybody here — the grassroots, the base of the conservative movement, the base of the Republican Party — it is either President Trump or a Trump candidate,” said pollster Jim McLaughlin announcing the poll’s results.

Among the several topics gauged at the conference, the most unanimous was 97% of those polled who said they approve of Trump’s job performance while he was president.
