Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would support former President Donald Trump should he become the 2024 Republican presidential nominee.
On Thursday, in response to a question from Fox News’ Bret Baier regarding whether or not McConnell would support another presidential bid by Trump, McConnell said, “[If he is] the nominee of the party? Absolutely.”
McConnell added: “There’s a lot to happen between now and ’24. I’ve got at least four members that I think are planning on running for president, plus some governors and others. There’s no incumbent. It should be a wide-open race and fun for you all to cover.”
McConnell isn’t the only Senate Republican who thinks another Trump run is possible. On Tuesday, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said that he believes Trump would win the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, if he runs.
