MiLB: AAA Season Delayed One Month

Jeff Passan and ESPN are reporting that the Triple-A season, the minor league’s highest level will delay their season one month. The other minor league levels, Double-A, High-A, and Low-A were already set to begin the first week in May.

)

The reason for this delay is Major League Baseball again will have alternate sites, just like during the 2020 season. These are heavily for promoting minor leaguers to the big club. A reason cited is to help control the possible spread of COVID-19. Minors clubs fly commercial air, while major league teams fly via private jets.

Teams hope that the delay in the season could help the process of vaccinating players before being sent to their respective clubs and also prevent the process of having to quarantine players.
