CoD: Oakley Signs Scump As First Esports Athlete

The King joins Oakley as their first esports Athlete.

Scump is undoubtedly the most popular Call of Duty professional in the world. With a number of tournaments wins and his 2017 World Championship success, Scump has been loyal to OpTic, and their brands have grown together. Today, Oakley unveiled Scump as their first esports athlete sponsorship, joining the likes of Patrick Mahomes, JuJu Smith-Schuster and others.

Scump spoke to The Esports Observer on his struggles with his eyesight, and why Oakley we’re the brand of choice for him. “I can’t see anything. Having glasses that help me see and are comfortable are the two most important things I need in a pair,” Abner said. “Playing at the highest level, I need to be able to see everything and react to everything perfectly with no discomfort. You don’t want to have to worry about things inside of the game because of things outside of the game. These Oakleys are pretty much an attachment of me now.”

He went on to say how he chose Oakley due to them being a “very prestigious brand in the glasses space.” And how he sees other sporting professionals wearing them every day. Scump joins Oakley as their first sponsored esports player. Being one of the most popular in the world, this partnership continues to blend the world of esports and regular sports day by day.
