Brandon’s Best Bets: NASCAR Cup Series Pennzoil 400

Last week continued the streak of guys winning that not many people expected to this early in the season. Not that William Byron was a surprise winner but he was definitely not on the top of most people’s list of potential winners. This week, NASCAR heads west to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the Pennzoil 400. It is a perfect combination to have a gambling article about a NASCAR race in Las Vegas right? Exactly, now let’s jump right into my top bets for this weekend’s race.

All odds provided by DraftKings Sportsbook

Outright Winner

Brad Keselowski (+800)

Keselowski has been about as good as you can get at Las Vegas since 2013. His worst finish is 13th and that was the only time he finished outside of the top ten in his last 11 races at Vegas. In that span, he has won three times with two of those being the March race. Last week, he looked strong early leading 47 laps but as the race went on his car fell off. He finished 16th in that race after taking a chance with short pitting to get new tires in the final stage. Look for Keselowski to come back strong this week and contend for the win.

Race Props

Grid position of race winner under 4.5 (+200)

This race prop comes in at good odds considering who is starting top four. You get Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr, Kyle Larson, and last week’s race winner Byron. If Keselowski is unable to get it done this week, this prop bet is a very good fallback. Harvick and Truex are actually the top two favorites to win at +600. Larson has yet to win at Vegas but has finished top three in three out of nine races. Look for all these guys starting top four to be upfront most with a good shot to win the race.

Best finish out of Group F Ryan Newman](https://www.nascar.com/drivers/ryan-newman/)(+225) Bubba Wallace, Michael McDowell, Ross Chastain.

The Roush Fenway Racing cars showed some good speed in last week’s Dixie Vodka 400. Chris Buescher was able to win stage one after driving through the field, passing many of the top drivers in NASCAR. Newman also had a solid run that resulted in a seventh-place finish. Newman has a career average of 15.64 at Las Vegas in his career. He is the best driver out of these four and should be able to make his way into the top 15, ahead of this group of drivers.

Best Finishing Position *Tyler Reddick](https://www.nascar.com/drivers/tyler-reddick)(+115)* or Austin Dillon

Reddick was on the move last week and if he had a few more laps, he probably would have been able to catch Byron for the win. In two races at Vegas, Reddick has not been able to beat Dillon. However, last year he got caught up in a wreck in the September race, and in the February race, he finished 18th in only his third Nascar Cup Series start. This is a battle between two Richard Childress Racing teammates. Reddick showed last week on a mile and a half track that he’s not afraid to use the top lane to find some speed. Look for Reddick to outrun his teammate in this race.
