Twitter rolling out Spaces globally next month

Twitter will roll out Spaces globally next month.

The social network launched its alternative to invite-only Clubhouse back in December, which it described as "a small experiment focused on the intimacy of the human voice".

Now, a spokesperson has confirmed to CNET that the in-app feature - which lets users create their own rooms for others to join and share audio clips in tweets and DMs - will be available worldwide in April.

Earlier this month, Twitter expanded its beta test to include Android users after an initial period focused on iOS devices.

Announcing the upcoming feature last year, Twitter promised it would give an "additional layer of connection" to its users.

They explained: "Audio adds an additional layer of connection to the public conversation. Musicians and authors have used it to bring their works to life, while other people used audio to tell stories, share emotion, and be their true, funny selves.

"We also know that people want to feel comfortable and in control when having conversations on Twitter."
