2021 Mid-Season Showdown

Sponsored by Grubhub, MSS takes the best performers in North American League of Legends esports and crowns one champion. It all starts at 1 PM PST on March 20 and runs through April 11 at the Los Angeles Greek Theatre. MSS Finals Weekend occurs on April 10 and April 11 and selects the best NA LCS team to take part in the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI). The teams competing are Cloud9, Team SoloMid, Team Liquid, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, and Evil Geniuses.

Because of the global pandemic, the finals will not hold an audience. Participating teams must take strict health precautions during the live event. Players and staff must take COVID-19 tests upon arrival and distance while playing.

MSS Format and Finals

Normally seen as the Spring Playoffs and Finals, Riot Games is now combining them both into the Mid-Season Showdown. This event will present the first LCS championship title of 2021 to the best North American League of Legends esports team. Only six teams remain now that the regular Spring Split season has ended. Due to fewer teams involved, upcoming LCS games only take place on Saturdays and Sundays until MSS Finals Weekend.

What’s more, advertisements return to the in-game banners on Summoner’s Rift. Grubhub and Red Bull will see their own branded banners on the map. As a major sponsor to MSS, Baron sees Red Bull’s banner, a first for that objective location. Fans can’t wait to see the next tier of esports action for NA League of Legends teams and who goes to the Mid-Season Invitational in Iceland. Mid-Season Showdown begins this weekend for the LCS on Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and the LCS website.
