Rocket League Verizon 5G Ultra Cup announced

Verizon and Psyonix unveiled the Verizon 5G Ultra Cup, the first Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS X) Spring Split Regional esports event of 2021, alongside another initiative called the Speed Shot Challenge.

With tickets to the Sping Major and potentially an invitation to the World Championship at the end of the year, professional teams now look forward to the Verizon 5G Ultra Cup. Furthermore, Verizon will use this to interact with the Rocket League esports fanbase and created the Speed Shot Challenge.

Verizon 5G Ultra Cup

As one of the official North American Rocket League Championship Series X sponsors, Verizon was still lacking in leveraging this partnership. So it stepped up with a community event, the Speed Shot Challenge. In a specified Reddit post, players can upload clips of their best goals where the top 30 win a Rocket Pass Premium upgrade. To enter the contest, there are almost no requirements and it’s completely free.

For Verizon, which uses speed as a selling point, this partnership makes sense. As the pandemic hit and esports players and organizers relied on online solutions for tournaments, speed became a necessity. Using the Verizon Speed Shot Challenge helps create interaction and get Rocket League excited about the company.

Speed Shot Challenge

Psyonix and Verizon will judge the Speed Shot Challenge clips and decide the winners. In addition, the contestant with the best clip receives a brand new Samsung Fold, fully equipped with Verizon’s technology. This best clip is decided by votes in Twitch chat while the Verizon 5G Ultra Cup is streamed. Only one winner gets the Verizon 5G Ultra Cup MVP Award and the Samsung Fold so Twitch viewers should pay attention.

Everyone interested in the Rocket League Speed Shot Challenge can check its rules. As for the RLCS X Spring Split esports tournament, fans can tune in on March 19 to follow the 5G Ultra Cup on both Twitch and Youtube.
