VALORANT Patch 2.06

The community can finally take a breather after the excitement of VALORANT Champions Tour Masters 1 and Sentinels coming out on top. After seeing common complaints in VALORANT esports, Riot Games is here to update the game. Previously talked about back in early February, Viper and Yoru are getting long-awaited buffs. This patch also nerfs the Bucky shotgun, one of the biggest community complaints, and makes changes to the Deathmatch and Escalation game modes.

VALORANT Patch 2.06 introduces a new feature to improve gameplay through Head Related Transfer Function. This is an audio system that helped determine where sounds come from. HRTF uses sound profiles based on head size and ear shape to better locate audio cues. Though it may feel unnatural at first, Riot insists players give it a try and get used to it. The HRTF setting is found in the audio settings and only works with headphones for footsteps, reloads, and Deathmatch respawns.

Patch Buffs, Nerfs, and Additions

In VALORANT Patch 2.06, arguably the biggest changes come with a Viper rework. Now, enemies who go through toxin abilities immediately receive 50 decay with the decay rate getting decreased. Her poison cloud smoke can now be redeployed immediately after picking it up and grants a temporary charge. The high decay is an immediate deterrent, especially in pistol rounds, so players will want to watch out for this Viper rework.

Yoru, who also struggled since his release, gets major buffs. His flashes activate faster and last longer. His ultimate costs one less point and he can activate Gatecrash during his ult too. Finally, instead of getting refreshed on kills, Gatecrash gets a 35-second cooldown and it lasts 10 more seconds before disappearing. The Bucky nerfs are here in VALORANT Patch 2.06 and hit the gun hard. Specifically, its alternate fire pellets are reduced from 15 to 5 to compensate for its range. Riot also decreased the bullet spread on both firing forms and updated the guns damage curve.

Alongside a variety of bug fixes, this VALORANT update addresses many problems. VALORANT Patch 2.06 and Riot Games came through to help the community. Adding a rework for Viper, Yoru buffs, Bucky nerfs, and introducing HRTF for improved audio will help players when it releases.
