Call of Duty: Warzone Update Nerfs the AUG

The midseason update finally rolled out on Call of Duty: Warzone, nerfing the AUG, improving armor spawn rates, and reducing the game’s file size.

This update finally answers the wish of the player base by nerfing the AUG. Furthermore, in the midst of multiple quality of life improvements, armor should now spawn consistently across all game modes.

AUG Nerf

The AUG dominated the Warzone meta, especially at long range. Raven Software considered that it was too good at long distances, which was the cause of its nerf. Now, the AUG gets a higher recoil, making it harder to master and less reliable at long-ranged fights.

Some fans of the Call of Duty franchise are still wondering why the AUG did not get a nerf in the main game. After all, tactical rifles are too powerful in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. But still, this new update gives players hope to see the right nerfs in the future.

There are also a few adjustments to multiple attachments. For example, the Cavalry Lancer barrel is more effective against vehicles.

Warzone Update

Besides the AUG nerf, the tactical map saw a few changes. For example, it is now possible to place a Danger Ping via a double-click. In addition, objects should be easier to ping, especially when close to one another. Players can now clear all pings by holding down the dedicated button for a short period of time.

Many players complained about the size of Call of Duty Warzone compared to other battle royales like Fortnite and PUBG. Since file storage is expensive on PC and consoles, developers finally decided that it was time to optimize its game’s overall size.

However, to manage this, the studio made this patch weigh over 50 GB. Depending on their internet connection, players can wait a really long time. This Call of Duty: Warzone midseason update also brings many bug fixes, like the Dev Error 6634 for Xbox or the tracking of Baker’s fourth Operator Mission Objective.

While it is light in terms of content, the AUG nerf should still make quite an impact on gameplay.
