MLB DFS: Sunday Main Slate - Arms, Bats, and Stacks

Welcome to another edition of MLB DFS on a dreary Sunday on the east coast. Today’s main slate on DraftKings is filled with action, as it is 10 games. Let’s dive into it and keep adding to the bankroll.

Arms

Jordan Montgomery ($9,900)

Pitching options are light today and Montgomery is the most expensive option. He pitched lights out in his season debut start last week against the Baltimore Orioles. He went six strong while striking out seven, allowing four hits and no walks. The Tampa Bay Rays lineup has struck out at a 31.4 percent clip over the last year, while Montgomery strikes out batters at a good rate. Tampa Bay’s lineup is also very left-handed heavy, which is favorable for the southpaw.

Dylan Cease ($7,200)

Cease struggled in his season debut, giving up three earned runs in just 4 1/3 innings against the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander has struggled in the majors with a near six FIP over 27 starts. But he pitched well during Spring Training with a 1.06 ERA. The Royals are a team he is familiar with, pitching against them more than any other team. Cease has made four starts against Kansas City and given up 12 runs. The current Royals lineup is just 10-for-46 (.217) with 12 punchouts against him.

Other options: Marcus Stroman ($9,100), J.T. Brubaker ($7,800)

Bats

Yermin Mercedes ($4,500)

Ride the Mercedes train, as he still remains a pretty lofty bargain. He has yet to show any signs of slowing down and has a favorable matchup against the lefty Mike Minor. I mean, for Mercedes, any matchup is favorable right now. That is until pitchers start figuring him out.

Xander Bogaerts ($5,500)

The Boston Red Sox shortstop has hit well to start the season, going 9-for-27 with one double, two RBI, and five runs scored. Bogaerts has yet to go deep, but he could run into one soon. He has a juicy matchup against right-hander Jorge Lopez, who got lit up for four runs, including a homer, against the Yankees in his season debut. The Boston lineup has been putting big run totals up and is poised to go off again.

Other options: Jose Abreu ($5,500), David Fletcher ($4,600)

Stacks

Cleveland Indians vs. Jose Urena

*Austin Hedges ($3,900)*
*Cesar Hernandez ($4,400)*
*Jose Ramirez ($5,800)*
*Andres Gimenez ($3,600)*
*Eddie Rosario ($4,300)*

Urena had a horrible first start this season, lasting just three innings while allowing five earned runs on four hits and four walks. He threw just 39 of 81 pitches for strikes. Lefty hitters hit him 30 points higher and slug around 80 points higher over his career. The Indians have some lefty mashers and are second in the league with 14 home runs. Franmil Reyes ($4,100) is another option with four homers on the year. Hernandez is not known for his power but he has three career bombs off Urena. The Tigers bullpen is not all that strong either, with a team ERA of 5.29.

*Home Run Call: Xander Bogaerts*
