Brandon’s Best Bets: Toyota Owners 400

The NASCAR Cup Series is back for another race. This week, they head to Richmond for the Toyota Owners 400. This will be another short track after having raced at Martinsville and Bristol the last couple of weekends. Hopefully, the rain stays away for this race because the past two cup races have been postponed until the following day because of rain. Now, let’s jump right into my top bets for the race.

Outright Winner

Chase Elliott (+850)

Elliott has yet to win at Richmond in his career. However, in his last five races at the track, he has finished in the top five three times. Last week at Martinsville he ended up passing Denny Hamlin at the end of the race en route to a second-place finish. He does not have a win this year and the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion is due for a trip to victory lane. Look for Elliott to find himself toward the front and win his first race of the season.

Race Props

Top Five Finish: Kyle Busch (+120)

Even though Busch has struggled for the last year and a half at winning races, he is still very good at Richmond. He only has one win since the start of last season so we will avoid the outright winner at least for this week. His top-five finish odds are very good. Especially, considering his average finish at the track is very good at only 6.77 in thirty races. He has won six times and finished in the top five 18 times in his career. The Toyota’s have run well at the short tracks this season. Busch’s teammate Martin Truex Jr won last week and Hamlin led 276 laps. Busch will almost without a doubt be in contention for a top-five finish this week.

Better Finish Between Kyle Busch (-125) or Kevin Harvick

This bet is another solid bet for Busch. The Stewart cars have struggled this season and that includes Harvick. That is surprising because we are used to him being a lock as a candidate for the win. That has not been the case this year. His best finish is fourth and he has not led many laps at all like we are custom to. However, this is a battle between two very good drivers at Richmond and it should be a tight battle till the end.

Best Finish Between William Byron, Alex Bowman, Christopher Bell, or Austin Dillon (+300)

Dillon has been very solid at Richmond in his last four races at the track. He has finished in the top six three times in those races. Out of these four drivers Bell has only raced at Richmond once and finished 15th. Bowman has yet to finished higher than ninth in nine attempts and Byron has finished no better than 12th in five attempts. Surprisingly, Dillon has the worst odds to finish the best of these drivers. However, I would argue he has the best chance to finish the best. Now, let’s hope he can get the job done.
