Russell Wilson Inching Closer To Committing To Seahawks

Russell Wilson Calls for Return of Seattle SuperSonics

Despite the ongoing trade rumors involving Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, it seems that the quarterback wants to stay in Seattle.

After months of rumors and Wilson’s agent identifying the teams that his client wants to play for, it seems that Wilson will commit to Seattle. Wilson has come to the full understanding about his place on the team and regained confidence in the team after the Seahawks agreed to shift its offensive philosophy, among other things.

Seattle head coach Pete Caroll spoke recently about this offseason’s Wilson trade rumors. The coach downplayed the rumors as “old news” and said the speculation helped the team “refocus” and get “on the same page” with its star player.

The team did consider Wilson’s demands but ultimately changed the team’s approach to the quarterback’s liking. There were three things that Wilson wanted and those were a new offensive philosophy that would maximize him as a player, a real high-end, ready-to-play addition on offense, and finally, communication on the direction of the team from Carroll and general manager John Schneider.

The team quickly agreed to the first two demands by hiring Shane Waldron as its new offensive coordinator. The team then traded for seven-year Raiders veteran Gabe Jackson. As for the third demand, it is currently ongoing and being actively discussed with the team.

While these demands have satisfied the quarterback, for now, there is still speculation that this contract will be his last with the team. Wilson’s contract is set to expire in 2023, and it’s still possible for the quarterback to ask for a trade if the team does not perform next season.
