Larry King wins posthumous award at Daytime Emmys

Larry King won a posthumous award at the Daytime Emmys on Friday (25.06.21).

The iconic TV and radio star - who passed away in January, at the age of 87 - won the Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host gong during the awards ceremony, which was hosted by 'The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood.

Similarly, Alex Trebek - who hosted 'Jeopardy!' for 37 seasons, from its revival in 1984 until his death in 2020 - also won a posthumous award.

The well-known TV presenter was named as the winner of the Outstanding Game Show Host gong.

Two of the TV star's three children, Matthew and Emily, were on hand to receive the accolade during the ceremony, saying they were "honoured to accept this award on behalf of our dad".

Elsewhere, 'General Hospital' was one of the big winners during the ceremony, with the long-running show taking home six gongs in total, including Outstanding Drama Series.

The show also won accolades in five other categories, including Outstanding Performance by a Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Maurice Benard), Outstanding Directing Team for a Drama Series, Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series (Max Gail), Outstanding Casting for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program, and Outstanding Technical Team for a Drama Or Daytime Fiction Program.

'The Kelly Clarkson Show' was among the other big winners on the night, too.

The chat show only launched in 2019, but it's quickly become a huge success, with the chart-topping pop star claiming the award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host.

The series also won the accolades for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show and Outstanding Live and Direct-To-Tape Sound Mixing.

Meanwhile, Netflix's 'The Letter for the King' claimed three awards in total.

The coming-of-age adventure won in the categories of Outstanding Hairstyling for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program, Outstanding Sound Mixing And Editing for a Drama or Daytime Fiction Program, and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Daytime Program.
