Cher hopes a newcomer plays her in biopic

Cher wants a newcomer to play her in an upcoming biopic.

The 75-year-old singer has spoken to the bosses of Universal Pictures about the movie and she hopes that they will ultimately take her advice onboard.

She said: "I know the people so I’m sure they’ll … listen to things I have to say.

"But it doesn’t mean I’m going to get the final cut."

Casting for the film has not yet started, and Cher has revealed that she'd prefer to have a total newcomer in the role.

Discussing who could play her, Cher told the 'Just of Variety' podcast: "We were talking about it yesterday, and we’re just trying to think of [actors]. I said, ‘I don’t think we know her yet.'"

Despite her continued success, Cher previously admitted she worries about ageing.

The pop star - who released her debut solo album, 'All I Really Want to Do', in 1965 - admitted her lifestyle has slowed down over recent years.

Asked how she feels about ageing, she said: "I hate it. What, I’m going to say I like it? No, I don’t.

"Any woman who is honest will say it’s not as much fun. When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long."

And asked how her lifestyle compares now, the singer - who is one of the best-selling artists of all time - replied: "It’s like we’ve got to rest because you’ve got another night. Also, I don’t like going out now because everybody’s got a camera and it’s not safe.

"People rush you, and you don’t know if they’re going to kill you or take your picture. Either way, I don’t like it."
