Cam Newton Reveals He’s Vaccinated Against COVID-19 – On His YouTube Channel

FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS - SEPTEMBER 13: Cam Newton #1 of the New England Patriots reacts before the game against the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium on September 13, 2020 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton announced in a video published on his YouTube channel that he received a COVID-19 vaccine and that he intends on returning to the field.

“Hell yeah I still want to play football,” Newton said in Sunday’s video. “I still get that urge to go out and perform and do something that I’ve been doing since I was 7 years old.”

Newton had been reluctant to get vaccinated, citing “it’s still a personal decision” and that “the side effects weren’t beneficial to [him].”

Earlier this preseason, Newton had missed three practices with the New England Patriots due to a COVID-19 protocol “misunderstanding” and was released by the organization just prior to the start of the regular season. Head coach Bill Belichick stated that the quarterback’s vaccination status didn’t play a part in the decision to let him go.
