Scott Frost provides updates ahead of Purdue game
Scott Frost said Thursday that the Huskers have "a decision to make" at placekicker as they get set to face Purdue on Saturday.
There was a competition this week involving four Nebraska kickers, and Frost said they all did well. It has yet to be determined whether the duties will remain with senior Connor Culp, who has been erratic this year on field goals and extra points after earning all-conference honors in 2020. Frost did say Culp might have benefited from the off week and the "stepping away" that it allowed him.
On defense, containing star Purdue receiver David Bell will be a primary task Saturday for the Huskers. Frost said limiting big plays will be the key.
"I don't think you're ever going to take a guy like that completely out of the game," Frost said. "We've just got to try to do our best to limit explosives."
As for quarterback Adrian Martinez, Frost said the off week got him healthier. "He's been playing through a lot," Frost said. "He looks full speed, so I'm excited to see him at 100 percent again."
