A ticket stub from an October 1984 NBA game just sold for a record $264,000. Normally that would be outrageous, but the stub just so happens to be from a game between the Chicago Bulls and the Washington Bullets during which Michael Jordan made his NBA debut.
ESPN’s Dan Hajducky reported that the stub, which was graded a 6-out-of-10, shattered the previous record of $175,000 for a sports ticket – Game 3 of the 1903 World Series between the Boston Americans and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jordan tallied 16 points on 5-of-16 shooting, seven assists, six rebounds, four blocks, and two steals in 40 minutes in the game, a 109-93 Bulls win.
His Airness, of course, would keep winning a tradition during his tenure in Chicago.
