The Tennessee Titans failed to place the franchise tag on outside linebacker Harold Landry before Tuesday’s deadline—they instead outdid that and signed him to an enormous five-year, $87.5 million extension with $52.5 million guaranteed.
The 25-year-old is set to receive $20.25 million in the first year of his contract, and his $17.5 million average salary snuggles nicely between the Buccaneers’ Shaquil Barrett ($17 million) and the Lions’ Trey Flowers ($18 million).
Starting all 17 games this past season, the 6-foot-2, 252-pound Boston College product notched career marks of 12 sacks, 75 tackles, 22 quarterback hits, and 43 pressures.
Landry arrived on the team via the second round of the 2018 draft.
