Elizabeth Hurley's heartbroken she can't make Shane Warne's funeral

Elizabeth Hurley is heartbroken she is unable to attend Shane Warne's funeral.

The 56-year-old actress-and-model - who was engaged to the late cricket legend before they split after three years together in 2013 - has been filming her upcoming movie 'Christmas in the Caribbean' in London, and is gutted she won't be able to say a proper farewell to her former fiance Down Under.

Alongside a series of snaps taken from their engagement shoot, Elizabeth wrote: "My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral. I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there. These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement- we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time."

The 'Bedazzled' star admitted it's "cruel" that no one will ever receive another "lion hug" from her "beloved Lionheart".

She added: "It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone. It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love your Luna."

Elizabeth recently showed her support for Shane's daughter Brooke following his passing.

Brooke shared a photo of herself and her family - including her siblings Jackson, 23, and Summer, 20, and mother Simone Callahan - as they gathered by his statue at Melbourne Cricket Ground, where Shane is to be honoured with a state funeral on March 30.

Elizabeth commented with a red love heart emoji on the emotional post as Shane's daughter thanked fans for their support.

She wrote: "We are so grateful for everyone's support, the messages and love we have received is so special and touching, everyone's support around our Dad's statue is beyond heart warming thank you. We are so proud of our Dad."

Elizabeth previously took to Instagram to hail the sporting hero, who died aged 52 of a suspected heart attack in Thailand earlier this month, alongside some throwback photos of their time together.

She wrote: "I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart. (sic)"

The 'Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery' star was in a relationship with Shane for three years until they split in 2013, he previously described their romance as the "happiest days" of his life.

He said: "I was more in love with Elizabeth than I'd realised I could be. I miss the love we had. My years with Elizabeth were the happiest of my life."
