Twitter plans to let you create audio clips from your Spaces

Promoting your podcast is about to get easier on Twitter. The social network has launched a new test that allows users to create an audio clip from a recording from Spaces, its audio room feature. Further proof that audio has become one of the platform's priorities.

Twitter is continuing to diversify its features. After announcing new options to support online shopping, the social network is adding more opportunities for audio on its platform.

As of now, some users can create 30-second excerpts from their Spaces recordings -- Twitter's audio rooms. For the moment, this option is only available to select creators and only on iOS. While just a few Twitter users can currently create these, all users on iOS, can listen to these clips in their news feed. In its announcement, Twitter said that this feature will arrive "real soon" on Android and for the web version.

In January 2022, Twitter already unveiled a feature to allow hosts to record their audio room sessions, allowing them to make a podcast of it to listen to again later.

Note that Clubhouse had already announced a similar option, the ability to create a 30-second excerpt, from a chat in an audio room.

While Clubhouse may have kicked off the audio lounge trend during the covid-19 pandemic, Twitter was quick to develop features to get a foothold in this new, growing market. The social network is now displaying audio shows being broadcast in the top bar on the app, giving increasing importance to this new content. With this new option to create excerpts, Twitter will be able to count on more visibility on its platform and thus promote its Spaces tool to its users.
