After two seasons of watching games from home, safety Earl Thomas wants back in the NFL.
“I’m ready,” Thomas, who will turn 33 next month, texted ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday. “I’m in shape. My timing is on point—I’m proud of that.”
Thomas’ last time in an NFL jersey was with the Ravens in August 2020, when he was released after punching teammate Chuck Clark during training camp.
Thomas, once one of the best safeties in the league, made his name as part of the Seahawks’ Legion of Boom secondary from 2010-2018.
Then there was the flashing-the-middle-finger-to-the-sideline-after-a-leg-injury fiasco in 2018, which led to him signing a lucrative deal—$32 million guaranteed—with Baltimore. His time there didn’t end well, as he’s still in the midst of a grievance to recoup some guaranteed money following his release.
He flirted with the Texans in September 2020, but nothing ever came of it.
