A short trip to the Spanish island of Ibiza after a 3-1 loss to Mainz has landed some Bayern Munich players in hot water.
Bayern did clinch its 10th straight Bundesliga title three rounds early on April 23, but they then followed that up with the ugly loss in Mainz on Saturday.
Despite the loss, coach Julian Nagelsmann gave players Sunday and Monday off, which led to the frowned-upon trip.
“It’s not on at all, especially after such a game,” Former Bayern great Lothar Matthäus said. “If I were Julian Nagelsmann, I would have taken tougher action—the days off would have been scrapped after such a game.”
