One of the most prolific running backs of the last 15 years is in legal trouble today. Marshawn Lynch was arrested on Tuesday under the suspicion of a DUI on Tuesday night.
Early Tuesday morning, Lynch was pulled over by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department while driving on the Vegas Strip. Officers concluded that Lynch had been drinking and promptly arrested and jailed him.
The LVMPD released a statement on Twitter regarding the arrest. “The LVMPD conducted a vehicle stop at Fairfield Avenue and West Utah Avenue (near Wyoming and Las Vegas Blvd) on a driver, later identified as Marshawn Lynch, for suspected driver impairment,” it said. “Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that Lynch was impaired and conducted an arrest. Lynch was transported to the Las Vegas City Jail and booked for driving under the influence.”
The City of Las Vegas also released a photo of Lynch’s mugshot after his arrest.
The arrest comes just a day after the Seattle Seahawks announced that Lynch will act as a special correspondent for the team where “he will produce creative content for a variety of projects.”
The running back, nicknamed “Beast Mode,” was one of the more dominant running backs during his time in Seattle. He was a four-time Pro Bowler and notched a first-team All-Pro selection. He was also key contributor to the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII win over the Denver Broncos.
