Demi Lovato is gearing up to release her new album Holy Fvck, and just premiered a new track called “29” that pretty noticeably called out a past boyfriend of theirs. The title is in reference to the age her ex Wilder Valderrama was when he began dating Lovato, who was 17, and how Lovato came to reflect on the dynamic relationship when she turned 29.

The singer told Apple News reaching that age “was a huge eye-opener for me. And then, going into treatment and having realizations that led to my transformation, my release of the emotion that was put into this song.” Lovato also said that the question is better answered in the lyrics of the song itself.

The lines mentioning Valderrama don’t name him specifically but the person in the lyrics is mentioned to currently have a partner 12 years younger than him, the exact age gap between the actor and his wife Amanda Pacheco.

Lovato is uncompromising and emotional in the delivery of these lines. The first verse includes, “Far from innocent / What the f––k’s consent? / Numbers told you not to / but that didn’t stop you.”

“Finally twenty-nine / Funny, just like you were at the time / Thought it was a teenage dream just a fantasy / But was it yours or was it mine? / Seventeen, twenty-nine” Lovato belts out for the song’s chorus. The dig at Valderrama’s marriage came when she sang, “I see you’re quite the collector / yeah, you’re 12 years her elder.”

Here is the lyric video for the single if you want to give it a listen yourself.
