Trump Transportation Sec. Elaine Chao Interviewed By Jan. 6 Committee

LOUISVILLE, KY - NOVEMBER 4: U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) celebrates with his wife Elaine Chao at his election night event November 4, 2014 in Louisville, Kentucky. McConnell defeated Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes....

Elaine Chao, Donald Trump’s former transportation secretary and Sen. Mitch McConnel’s wife, has been interviewed by the January 6 Commission.

Investigators have also interviewed Betsy DeVos, the former Education Secretary in the Trump Administration.

The interviews come as the commission calls in more and more cabinet members of the Trump administration.

A day after the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Largo house raid, the committee called upon Mike Pompeo, Trump’s secretary of state, to appear before it.

Pompeo and former treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin are key witnesses in Trump’s last days in office.

Reportedly, both men suggested using the 25th amendment to oust Trump from the White House.

It is unclear if Devos and Chao were both supporters of invoking the 25th Amendment, but both women resigned from their positions after the Capitol riot. Devos also reportedly talked to Vice President Mike Pence and other cabinet members regarding Trump’s forced removal.

In recent interviews, the commission seems to be closing in on Trump’s inner circle of advisors and cabinet members after a month of live hearings over the events leading up to the January 6 riot.

Pompeo reportedly fully complied with investigators and answered the questions he asked.
