This is the first firing interim head coach Mickey Joseph has made since taking over
For the second consecutive Sunday, a member of the Nebraska football coaching staff has been fired.
Interim head coach Mickey Joseph announced that defensive coordinator Erik Chinander was relieved of his position.
"We appreciate Erik and the work and dedication he has given to our football program," Joseph said. "At this time, I feel that it is in the best interest of the Nebraska Football program to take the leadership of the defense in another direction and decided Bill Busch will take over as defensive coordinator."
Busch rejoined the full time staff this season as the special teams coordinator.
Joseph will speak with the media Tuesday in his only availability during the bye week.
