Agents Reportedly Find Evidence To Charge Hunter Biden With Two Crimes

WASHINGTON, DC - APRIL 12: World Food Program USA Board Chairman Hunter Biden (L) and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden attend the World Food Program USA's Annual McGovern-Dole Leadership Award Ceremony at Organization of American States on April...

Federal investigators have gathered enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden, President’s Joe Biden son, with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase, people familiar with the matter told The Washington Post.

According to the people, the case is set to get to the hands of the U.S. Attorney in Delaware Davis Weiss, appointed by former President Donald Trump.

CNN reported that the investigators are still deciding over pursuing the charges, also citing anonymous sources. A decision will not be made before the midterm election, in November.

The investigation into the president’s son began in 2018 and changed its scope over the course of the last few years. At first, it examined Hunter Biden’s finance overseas. Then, investigators narrowed it down to focus on his income report and whether he lied over the paperwork to purchase a gun.

The case was a frequent target of Trump during his campaign for reelection in 2020. The most famous episode involving the investigation involved a laptop allegedly belonging to the younger Biden found by a computer shop owner and turned over to the FBI because it had potential evidence of illegal activity.

The news — broke by The New York Post and amplified by most conservative media outlets — was initially followed by doubt about its veracity but ultimately there are few questions over the fact that Hunter Biden owned the device.

There is no evidence that the content found reveals any wrongdoing, according to an analysis by fact-checking agency PolitiFact.
