Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez posed for photos together at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala, and the internet is losing it over the historic pop culture moment.
In what is perhaps the most-talked-about photo, Selena and Hailey are seen warmly embracing, and they seem to be genuinely smiling and enjoying each other’s company after rumors of a fight between them.
Twitter had some pretty hilarious takes on the new development.
One fan, @hankersfilms, tweeted passionately, “HAILEY BIEBER AND SELENA GOMEZ HUGGED EACH OTHER THIS IS MY MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS I SWEAR TO GOD.”
Another, @alrightdrew, joked, “The way Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez have done more for world peace [than the] majority of the politicians in the world.”
Bieber and Gomez posing together is monumental because the model and the singer have been pitted against each other for the last four years.
Gomez famously dated Bieber’s now-husband, Justin Bieber, on and off from 2010 to 2018. In July 2018, just two months after Jelena’s reported split, Justin and Hailey got engaged.
They officially tied the knot the following September.
Needless to say, fans have had a lot of questions about the exact timeline of this triangle over the years. Many have speculated that Justin might have started seeing Hailey while he was still with Selena.
The friendly photos come just over two weeks after Hailey’s controversial Call Her Daddy podcast appearance.
During the episode, Hailey clarified the timeline of her relationship with Justin, and she called out certain Selenators for years of online and in-person harassment. (Some stans are still rooting for Jelena even now, and they accuse Hailey of “stealing” Justin from Selena.)
Hailey shut down the old cheating rumors.
“I can say, period, point blank, I was never with him when he was in a relationship with anybody — that’s the end of it,” she told host Alex Cooper firmly.
The Rhode founder emphasized, “It’s not my character to mess with someone’s relationship.”
She spoke directly to her haters: “You’re not obligated to like me, but I believe that no matter what, there can always be mutual respect between people.”
When Alex asked about her current relationship with Selena, Hailey responded, “It’s all respect, it’s all love… There’s no drama, personally.”
Based on the photos, it really does look like all respect and love between Hailey and Selena these days.
