BTS EXCLUSIVE: Ladytron Release Haunting Track “City Of Angels” With Gorgeous Music Video Featuring Bianca Comparato

A scene fro Ladytron's new video

If you need a song and video to get you in a really spooky mood this Halloween, the quartet Ladytron has got an awesome new track for you. The four-piece group of electric synth-smashers is gearing up for the release of their new album Time’s Arrow which will be available on January 30, 2023.

The video doesn’t just star members of the band, they landed actress Bianca Comparato to immerse herself in the creepy world created for this video.

Comparato is best known as a star of the Brazilian dystopian thriller series 3%. The video was directed by Manuel Nogueira and was inspired by the horror films of Dario Argento and other masters of terror.

On the band for whom he made the video, Nogueira said, “Ladytron brings up that feeling of traveling back to the past. A foggy past between small nightclubs, concerts, and the grainy reverberation of our memories.”

Comparato’s movement in the whole video is a very interesting interpretation of the music, and she certainly holds attention in the difficult dialogue-less role.

She begins the video in a photography darkroom, which Nogueira said symbolized “my early life as a photographer.”

She is seen dancing with a strange person in a red suit with some gorgeous choreography, who she comes to accept and embrace at the end of the film. Nogueira said this sequence is “representing the nightlife, music, and my first years as a fashion photographer.”

A statement by Comparato gave an alternate reading that this other actress was actually a personification of the song itself.

“But our biggest breakthrough was when we figured out that the entity was the actual song, personified by the entity, beautifully portrayed by Marina Dias. That’s when it all came together,” Comparato said.

He also paid tribute to other artists’ contributions to the film. “By adding their own personal interpretations of the song and their perception of the story that we were creating the project becomes alive,” he added.

This is certainly a lively and interesting project, both visually and musically. Keep your eye out for more singles from Ladytron, and check out Time’s Arrow in January.
