After Bastion, Mei has been disabled in Overwatch 2 due to a bug

Mei is the latest in the long list of Overwatch 2 bugs, joining Bastion, Torbjorn, Junkertown, and more.

Blizzard’s freebies for players who sat through all Overwatch 2 launch day bugs had somewhat alleviated the discontent. After all, the free items came with a promise of fewer inconveniences. However, a lot has stayed the same since, with a whole map joining Bastion and Torbjorn on the bench. Now, Mei is bugged and removed from the game as well.

On November 1, Blizzard announced that it’d be taking Mei to the Overwatch 2 lab for some necessary tweaks to her kit after players reported a bug in her Ice Wall.

“We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations. We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch which is set for November 15,” Blizzard said.

The true purpose of Mei’s Ice Wall ability is to protect her teammates, but a new bug allowed her to lift players to odd angles. Combining Mae’s wall with Kiriko’s Swift Step will toss players out of map boundaries, providing them with an incredible advantage. Not just that, Kiriko would become invincible due to being out of bounds, making Mei a powerful hero by unfair means.

This game-breaking bug called for the instant removal of Mei from Overwatch 2, adding to the long list of bugs since launch. The DPS will return on November 15 in the next Overwatch 2 patch.

Overwatch 2 bugs can’t seem to stop

While Mei’s removal has surely upset many, fans are concerned that hero removals may not stop here. Brigitte’s shield has also been acting up when combined with Kiriko’s ultimate ability. As a result, the hero’s shield will become invincible at 1 HP, causing concern among the players.

To say that Overwatch 2’s release was shaky is an understatement. The game’s highly-anticipated launch was plagued with DDoS attacks, log-in delays, and verification issues for some players. Blizzard had quickly straightened out what it could, but the Overwatch 2 bugs are far from over.

Kiriko may be disabled next in order to fix all bugs that connect with her toolkit, but it’s just speculation. For now, Overwatch 2 fans are unhappy with typical bugs and issues that seem to continue.
