Don Mattingly appears set to join the Toronto Blue Jays‘ coaching staff. The former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins is in “deep discussions” with the Canadian baseball franchise, the New York Post reports. The official announcement could come as soon as this weekend. Mattingly is best known for his track record as a player. A highly touted prospect headed into 2008, Travis Snider was at one point seen as the future of the Blue Jays franchise. The 33-year-old outfielder was the team’s top prospect and the 15th best throughout baseball.
