A Frankfurt district court has dismissed closing a planned trial on suspicion of tax evasion around the 2006 World Cup against former German football top officials in return for a fine. The court confirmed to dpa that proceedings against former German Football Federation (DFB) president Wolfgang Niersbach and ex-DFB general secretary Horst R Schmidt are to start on March 4.
