The Bullock Texas State History Museum canceled an event for Forget the Alamo, a book that analyzes slavery’s role in the Battle of the Alamo, due to pressure from Texas GOP leaders. Museum leaders pulled the plug just three-and-a-half hours before the start time on Thursday evening. Three hundred attendees who had RSVP’ed were turned away. Fox News host Laura Ingraham is calling for defunding the U.S. military after General Mark Milley, the Joint Chiefs chairman, recently defended the study of critical race theory, an academic theory that examines race and racism in politics, culture and the law. Ingraham described Milley’s comments as “ridiculous” during a Wednesday night segment on her show The Ingraham Angle. “We are sending out tax dollars to this military in an attempt to weed out so-called ‘extremists,’ which just means conservative evangelicals as far as I can tell,” she said. “We’re paying for that? Tennessee State Rep. Justin Lefferty (R) argued on his state’s House floor Tuesday that the U.S. Constitution’s “three-fifths compromise” should be hailed as a positive, but “bitter” piece of United States history. Lefferty made the comment during a debate on whether or not Tennessee would adopt Critical Race Theory education into public schools. “I’ve sat here praying for about five or 10 minutes about how I’m going to try and address the body in this issue. Still not sure I have the answer, but if you guys will bear with me, I’ll see where it takes us,” Lafferty said. Lafferty claimed that t...
